Living in the Raw Wind: Short Stories

This volume, in its second edition, revised, collects 23 short stories by Latino queer writer Joseph F. Delgado, written over a period of over forty years. The stories have appeared in national literary magazines as well as in Delgado’s collections, several of them translated from the Spanish by the author himself for this collection. The stories cover the span from childhood to maturity in the lives of gay males and are set in American, European and Latin American locations.Joseph F. Delgado has written fiction and nonfiction in English, Spanish, and Italian. His best known works are the novels Our Father Takes a Bride and The Tango of the Shipwreck, the plays The Hurricane Without, the Hurricane Within: A Dark Tragicomedy, the autobiographical essay Coming of Queer Age in Puerto Rico: The Curse of Memory, and the poetry collection Viral Swan Songs: Variations on a Theme by Montagnier. He has taught literature and linguistics at several universities, and has been a researcher in software engineering education at Carnegie Mellon University. Read more
